Major Procedures

Major dental procedures typically include treatments and procedures that are fairly more complex in nature.

Major dental procedures include:

  • Dental crowns – Dental crowns are caps that are placed over top of the teeth. They can restore the natural strength, shape, function, and appearance of the tooth.
  • Implants – A dental implant is a replacement for missing teeth and their roots. They are much more natural looking than dentures and are permanent rather than removable.
  • Dental bridges – Bridges are prosthetic teeth that fill gaps created by missing teeth. Bridges are anchored in place by crowns fitted on the teeth on either side of the gap.
  • Dentures – Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth and gums. Full sets of dentures are given when all of the natural teeth are missing.
  • Partial dentures – Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth and gums. Partial dentures are given when some of your natural teeth still remain.
  • Root canals – Root canals are necessary to save an infected or damaged tooth in an effort to avoid having to remove the tooth.
  • Inlays and onlays – Inlays and onlays become necessary when old cavity fillings need to be replaced or taken out.

We know that some of these procedures sound scary and overwhelming, so we want to make sure you’re educated about your procedure. This way, we know you can make confident, well-informed decisions, which will take a lot of the stress out of your procedure!
