How To Choose The Right Floss For Your Family

A+ A-

There isn’t one single brand or type of dental floss that will do the job better than others. In all honesty, we’re just proud of you for flossing! Like most other products out there, the right dental floss for your family will have more to do with your own personal needs and preferences.

Dental floss is available in many different flavors, textures, and instruments. However, when all is said and done, the function of each dental floss is the same. The most important thing is that you’re cleaning plaque and debris from the vulnerable areas between the teeth.

Below are a few things to consider when choosing dental floss:

Flavors

Floss is available in many different flavors. The main draw of flavored floss is that it freshens your breath at the same time you floss your teeth. Minty flosses can also mask the bacterial odor that sometimes goes along with flossing, especially if it’s been a while since you’ve flossed.

Flossers

Flossers are small, plastic, instruments that hold a piece of floss on one end and boast a toothpick on the other end. If you find that you don’t have adequate time to floss, flossers can be a quicker and easier alternative to traditional floss. Flossers are also a great option for younger kids and teens who haven’t quite mastered the art of flossing yet.

Sensitive Gums

For people who have sensitive gums, especially ones that are prone to bleeding, flossing can be messy and unpleasant. Fortunately, there are many kinds of floss on the market that contain a special coating that makes them much gentler on sensitive gums. This floss is just as effective as regular floss.
