How To Keep Your New Year’s Resolutions

A+ A- Woman running in the city

Most of us set one or two New Year’s resolutions and then promptly forget about them a few weeks later. In fact, as many as 92% of people abandon their resolutions before the end of the year. This means that only 8% of us are successful in reaching these goals!

Keeping Your New Year’s Resolutions

If you’re part of the majority that struggles with keeping New Year’s resolutions, read up on a few tips below to help you set and keep your goals this year:

  • Set short-term goals – The best way to achieve large, long-term goals is to break them down into smaller, short-term goals. This method decreases the odds that you’ll become overwhelmed and decide to quit.
  • Write it all down – Keep a record of your setbacks and progress. This record will provide you with a visual of your progress and will help you learn what works and what doesn’t.
  • Make time for your goals – It can be difficult to set aside time to work toward your goal when you’re already busy enough as it is! When you first start out on your goals, you’ll need to set reminders and schedule time in the same way you’d schedule appointments.
  • Include your friends – Let your friends and family know about the goals you’ve set. Invite them to join you in adopting the same resolutions, or ask them to help you stay motivated.
  • Reassess if you need to – If you discover that something isn’t working the way you’d imagined, it’s ok to sit down and reassess your resolutions. This is much more preferable than just abandoning your goals altogether.

We here at Auburn Family Dental want you to reach your goals and realize your New Year’s resolutions! We believe that, by working hard and following the tips above, you can be successful in improving yourself for the New Year!
