Interesting Facts About Left Handedness!

August 13th is National Left Handers Day! In honor of the holiday, we’ve put together a fun list of interesting trivia related to left-handedness.

Left Handed People:

  • Make up between 5% - 25% of the population of the entire world!
  • Use the right side of their brain more often than right-handed people do.
  • Are almost three times more susceptible to alcoholism. This is because the right side of the brain has a lower alcohol tolerance.
  • Make great tennis players! In fact, almost 40% of pro tennis players are left-handed.
  • Are more likely to go into creative careers – artists, musicians, etc.
  • Are more likely than right-handed people to suffer from migraines, allergies, and insomnia. Sorry, lefties!
  • Are twice as likely to be men than women.
  • Are better at multi-tasking than right-handed people
  • May have shorter lifespans than righties
  • Recover more quickly from strokes
  • Tend to earn up to 26% more money than right-handed people!
